Overnight Oats
I don’t eat breakfast much,
but this concept of Overnight Oats sounds interesting to me.
Do a little preparation,
throw it in the refrigerator…
and in the morning,
you’ve got a nice, healthy breakfast ready for you.
I think sometimes…
that’s how I want change to happen.
Do a little work during the day,
take care of some things,
go to bed—
and everything’s going to be all right in the morning.
And to be fair…
sometimes all you do need is a good night’s sleep.
It gives you perspective.
A fresh outlook.
A reset.
But often, the expectation that I can do something
and be changed overnight…
Well—that’s not a reasonable expectation.
At least not for me.
I know the work we do has an accumulative effect.
But it can feel boring.
Like watching grass grow.
It’s strange, but the things we do today
we may not notice for 30 days or more.
That’s the slow, methodical change we’re after.
The new lifestyle…
the choices…
the habits…
We don’t feel the rewards right away.
Even my dear friend and teacher, Arun, has shown me this through food.
What we eat today—
around days 25 to 30—
becomes the essence that nourishes us.
Think about that.
And I love this shift:
When I future-plan my present actions,
they become powerful.
Not because I’m putting my happiness in the future…
But because I’m honoring that what I do right now
is shaping what’s coming.
And then I add tomorrow.
And the next day.
And the next.
Let it accumulate…
and accumulate…
and accumulate.
That’s growth without expectation.
That’s dedication.
That’s discipline.
So yes…
make the overnight oats.
Prep them.
Let them be ready in the morning.
But remember—
the deeper results of your preparation
may take time to reveal themselves.
The things you do today
may not be felt right away.
Patience, grasshopper.
ROAR with love,
Danny
