One Is Not the Loneliest Number

I’ve been working on some longer, more detailed observations, and I don’t want to rush the process. Remembering The Slow Hand from last week, I’m giving these upcoming writings a little more time to take shape.

I’m off to the great state of Oregon—a physical state, not an existential one, LOL! Along with a little rejuvenation at the Tiny Home, I’ll spend some time with these stories.

Until then, here’s a short observation I’ve been sitting with…

I’ve always loved words.

Malaprops. Well-timed homophones. And my favorite: neologisms - go ahead, look it up!

Lately, I’ve been thinking about being one with something.

What does that mean?

For me, there’s a deep opening that happens when I’m along for the ride. Going with the flow. Curious about what happens next.

A place without expectation. A place of wonder.

To be full of oneness. In the moment without resistance.

Wonderful.

Or perhaps… all full of wonder.

As I navigate this past week and the week ahead, I’m looking at what I’m full of right now.

Of course, certain people in my life would tell you I’m full of something!

And yes, many times I am. Aren’t we all?

When there’s so much going on, I notice how quickly I reach outward for something to settle the struggles within my mind and body.

This week, I found myself returning to a song I wrote:

━━━━━━━━━━ 🎵 🎶 🎵 ━━━━━━━━━━

What are the things in your life

That make a fountain of joy arise

A sister a brother a mother a father

A Baby born with your eyes

Or Mountains and canyons

And Rivers and Oceans

Or prayers of devotion

That set into motion

The Powerful emotion of Abundant Joy

It’s paired with no opposite

It’s time that we talk of it

How joy is an ultimate truth

I’m all full of wonder

For Sat Chit Ananda

Joy will always see you through

So why don’t we come alive

━━━━━━━━━━ 🎵 🎶 🎵 ━━━━━━━━━━

Reading those words again reminds me of the fullness available when it feels like there’s not enough.

When our resources are dim.

When it feels like it costs more money just to get to work than we could possibly make.

Why DON’T we come alive? Alive to this moment. There is SO MUCH here to fill us with wonder.

There is a time and place for everything—or so the song goes, paraphrasing a greater work. Sometimes it feels like the little things of self-care and nurture play second fiddle to the larger, more “pressing” needs of survival.

So I’m reminding myself to lean into the people, places, and little things that give me a sense of wonder.

To spend a little time with them.

All full of wonder.

I am One-der-FILLED!
