Good Enough!
Good Enough?
I have a friend who, when you ask him how he’s doing, simply says, “Good enough.”
At first, I thought that sounded limiting — almost like settling.
But the more I sat with it, the more I realized something quietly profound was hiding inside those two words.
We often hear good enough as “bare minimum.”
Just enough to get by.
Just enough to survive.
But what if good enough meant something else entirely?
What if it meant that we are good enough for anything —
that no limiting belief, no past mistake, no obstacle in front of us can prevent us from showing up with exactly what is needed?
Enough compassion.
Enough resilience.
Enough creativity.
Enough courage.
Enough love.
Right now.
Here’s the deeper truth I’ve come to trust:
In this moment, we already have everything we need to sur-thrive.
Not just survive — sur-thrive.
Every experience we’ve lived, every challenge we’ve endured, every lesson we’ve learned has quietly equipped us with the wisdom required for this moment. Nothing was wasted. Nothing was accidental.
Yoga teaches us about the balance between effort and ease.
And I’ve started to see enough as the fulcrum point between the two.
We tend to over-effort — pushing, proving, forcing.
Or we under-effort — holding back, doubting, shrinking.
But when we pause and ask,
“What is needed right now?”
“What would be good enough in this moment?”
Something softens. Something clarifies.
We begin to listen more closely.
We stop pushing our point and start receiving information.
We meet life instead of wrestling it.
I believe there is an essence inherent in each of us — a quiet, steady intelligence — that already knows how to show up enough for whatever is in front of us.
So I’ll leave you with this gentle inquiry:
Where in your life are you already good enough — right now — even if your doubts say otherwise?
And I’ll leave you with a small offering.
A poem/song I wrote a few years back called “More Than Enough.”
It speaks to the self-limiting beliefs and quiet shame that try to convince us we’re lacking — when the truth is, we never were.
For now, I wish you the best week ever —
one where you allow yourself to be good enough,
and maybe even discover you’re more than enough.
With love,
Danny
